Where Landscapes Speak and Garden Centres Inspire

When IGCA 2026 begins, it does so with a journey that stirs the soul: the Pre-Tour along the rivers Main, Rhine and Neckar. This region is where meandering waterways kiss vineyards, half-timbered houses whisper stories of centuries past, and nature dazzles in all her glory. Here, German horticulture meets poetic scenery and heartfelt hospitality.

Among the horticultural highlights are some of Germany’s most inspiring garden centres: In Frankfurt, Garden Centre Sunflower delights with vibrant plant displays and an exceptional fresh market – carefully curated, deeply regional, and bursting with seasonal delights. A place where gardeners and gourmets find common ground.

In Goldbach, Garden Centre Löwer stands as a haven of horticultural passion. Its astonishing range of self-cultivated plants reflects true expertise and dedication, with an abundance of herbs and vegetables filling the air with the scent of basil, lavender and ripe tomatoes.

Lauffen is home to Garden Centre Mauk, where tradition meets innovation. Expert consultation, modern presentation, and an inspiring diversity of plants make it a destination for every green enthusiast.

At Florapark Wagner in Wiesloch, visitors encounter a space of refined charm – well structured, lovingly styled, and with a curated assortment that radiates both quality and personality. Gardening here becomes a way of life.

Beyond the garden centres, the Pre-Tour offers cultural and scenic treasures: The wine town of Rüdesheim am Rhein charms with cobbled lanes, vineyards, and the sweeping views from the Germania Monument atop the Niederwald – a place of history and reflection.

Nearby, the renowned Geisenheim University opens its doors to offer insights into Germany’s horticultural research and education. From innovative cultivation techniques to sustainability in practice, this visit offers a glimpse into the future of green expertise.

The romantic city of Heidelberg enchants with its majestic castle ruins overlooking the River Neckar and a vibrant old town full of life and learning – a blend of elegance, intellect, and natural beauty.

And in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, history comes alive in a medieval treasure of narrow alleys, charming architecture, and views that tug at the heartstrings. One of its most enchanting surprises is the world-famous Käthe Wohlfahrt Christmas shop, open all year round – a festive wonderland of twinkling ornaments and handcrafted decorations.

This Pre-Tour is not just an opening event, beginning on 13 August in Frankfurt and concluding on 16 August in Munich. It is also a celebration for the senses – where nature, culture, and community come together. It embodies the spirit of the IGCA: people, places, and moments that forge lasting connections.
